Snippets
Sorry it's been a while...work has been a bit hectic and while we've been here for a little over two months, I still don't quite feel settled. So I'll just give a few snippets of the past month or so.
Job Front: I am the co-lead teacher for the 3-year-old classroom at a preschool about 20 minutes from our apartment. We have twenty little munchkins to teach how to count, follow rules, play, use words not fists when upset, potty-train (just 4 of these), take turns...ya know, all the basic stuff needed to survive in life. :) While it is remarkably hectic, I never am bored! I actually just finished making curtains and a couple little pillows for our classroom. Sunflowers because our class is the sunflowers.
Seminary life: Alec starts school in about 3 weeks and he is very excited to get that ball rolling. Friday night was a BBQ at one of the seminary professor's house for all the new students starting seminary, so we met several really fun people and were glad for the chance to hang out with other people (not that I don't love Alec, but one needs other friends in her life...)
Visitors: A few weeks ago, Mom, Dad, and Nicki came to visit us during their bi-annual trip out to Colorado. As KC is just a few extra hours east of Grandmom and Granddad, they took a weekend to come out and hang out with us! We jam-packed our days with a trip to a marble making factory, Nebraska Furniture Mart, the Hallmark factory, the Plaza, WWI Memorial, and of course, what trip to Kansas City would be complete without some Pan Fried Chicken and BBQ. It was wonderful to hang out with them and show them a little of the place we now call home. The next week, our friends Jeff and Angela Nelson made a stop for a few days on their way cross-country to Duke. After two attempts to go to two different Cold Stone to no avail (remind anyone of a previous experience trying to find BBQ late one night?), we settled on some pie at a Village Inn complete with laughter and newlywed stories. Our most recent visitor was Justin Bordley who was on his cross-country trek to Georgia Tech and crashed on our couch for a night. It was great catching up with him and hearing all the different places life is taking us.
Missouri State Fair: This past weekend we went to the Missouri State Fair with Zach and Bri. To those So Calers, no it is NOTHING like the San Diego County Fair. Think more Charlette's Web. We enjoyed barn after barn of swine, horses, chickens, cows, and little animals as well as a mini-circus, some funnel cake and copious amounts of sweat. All in all, however, it was a fun-filled fair day.

Look Mom! We did it! -->
Well, that's about it for now! Alec promises that he'll post soon, so I'll do my best to hold him to that promise. :) Love you all!
