Double Peace Day

Friday marked my 22nd year on this earth and Alec had a whole weekend full of love and fun for us!  It began with a relaxing night opening presents from Mom and Dad, Grandmom and Granddad, and the Barn and watching a movie.  Not celebratory, you say?  It was for me who spent 3 of the 5 days of the week working 10 or 11 hours each day.
No, Luna was not a birthday gift...

Saturday we began the day by going to the Farmer's Market, picked up some apples, and ate a leisurely breakfast at a cafe across the street.  We then went to the mall to spend some of the cold, hard cash Mom Ellis gave me before it got put in as gas money or next week's groceries or something.  Three pairs of shoes (2 for me and 1 for Alec) and a free make-up gift from Sephora for my birthday later, we came home.

One of my new pairs of shoes!

For the evening's festivities, we dressed up and went to Jack Stack BBQ.  After some delicious ribs for me and a sampler platter for Alec, we stopped by Starbucks (for another free birthday treat), walked around the Plaza a bit, then headed over to our play at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre. We saw "Saved" which was pretty funny, then headed home for the end of day two.

Thanks Starbucks!
One last treat, however; on the way home, fireworks were lighting up the sky near the plaza.  We never did figure out what they were really for, so I decided they were to celebrate my birth. :)

Fireworks for me!

Sunday, after church, we went to a park near us (Shawnee Mission Park) with our picnic basket, blanket and Subway sandwiches in tow.  We enjoyed a gorgeous, fall day (low-mid 60s, but hardly a cloud in the sky) resting and just being in God's creation.
Thanks for the picnic basket, Aunt Charisse!

This weekend has been a wonderful celebration of life and love!  Thanks to all my family and friends for walking alongside me these past 22 years!  I love you all.
