Alec's First Post

Well I figured it was finally time for me to write a blog since I really won’t have time after next week.  All I have had this last semester is time and I didn’t get around to writing, so this is my chance to update you all on mine and Kelcey’s life.
The last three months I haven’t been working.  I have been going to interviews every week and applying for jobs, but nothing was really working out.  I was kind of getting discouraged, but at the same time I like to keep hope since that was all I had.  As most of you now know I started this week at the Johnson County Library as a page.  What is funny is that I didn’t even apply for this branch, but was recommended for the opening from another branch I applied at.  I have been volunteering for the three months with the library and have had three interviews and I end up getting a job from a branch and lady I never met before.
I am working at the Central branch.  It is the biggest and best branch and has all of the county administrators there.  The ladies I volunteered with were impressed and said that is the best branch to get started at with the Library and that it was “glamorous.”  I don’t know how glamorous it is, but I enjoy the work and my co-workers.  I spend my time sorting books in the back room and out in the stacks shelving.
Well that is old news by now because I also got a second new job.  Just on Wednesday, the day after I first worked with the library, I said to myself that I was done applying for jobs and just going to be content with my library job and my classes.  Well an hour later Olathe Unified School district called with a job offer! Again, it is for a job I didn’t apply for.  I did apply for a position at the school in the special ed classroom, but not exactly for this position.  So I have no idea what I will be doing , but she said something about Paraprofession 1: speech… (I can’t remember). So next Tuesday (1/18) I will be going to the district office and filling out paper work and then heading straight to the classroom that afternoon.
After I got off the phone with the school district, I just had to laugh at the whole situation this week.  But I know that God is providing for us and answering prayer.  My problem is that I don’t always recognize his blessing nor blame in troubles.  But I do know that God provides and work in all situations.  I hope at both my jobs I will be a witness and a blessing to my co-workers.
I am excited about both of these opportunities and growing in skills and experience.  I also will be working close to Kelcey at the school.
So I went from no work to now having 33 hours a week on average!  I will be at the school 12-3:30 everyday and then at the library 4:30-9:12 Tues./Thur. and every other weekend all day Saturday and Sunday’s 12:30-5:15. (I can still go to church)
Well, that is the news from KC. Kelcey and I are celebrating this weekend by going out to eat BBQ.  My classes don’t start for 2 more weeks, so I have a few weeks to get used to my jobs and kind of settle in.  It will no doubt be interesting and difficult with all of the transitions in the next month, but is good. More news will be following as Kelcey applies and gets responses for grad-school.  We have an interesting year ahead…kind of like the last.

Happy New Year and Happy Epiphany! Remember, God has been revealed in Christ and Christ is continuing to be revealed in us.
